The Federal Government has disclosed that the shortest possible timeline for the development of any effective vaccine to combat the COVID-19 disease will be next year.
It further explained that 2021 is just an optimistic time because most vaccines are developed between 5 to 10 years.
“WHO is working with many partners across the world to accelerate research and development of safe and effective vaccines and also to ensure there is equitable access for the billions of people that will need it. “There is a large scale COVID-19 vaccine trial that began in South Africa yesterday, making it the first African nation to be included in such a trial. The trials are being conducted in South Africa, Britain and in Brazil. We will wait to see the outcomes of these trials.”
“Also, people affected by humanitarian crisis, particularly those displaced or those living in camps and camp-like settings are often faced with specific challenges and vulnerabilities that must be taken into consideration when planning our readiness and response operations for the Outbreak.”
