Dengue cases up 16% last week

THERE were 1,693 dengue fever cases last week, an increase of 233 cases compared to the previous week, the Ministry of Health said today.“The cumulative number of dengue fever cases reported so far is 51,262 compared to 22,101 cases for the corresponding period in 2021, an increase of 132%,” he said.However, he said the number of hotspots was down to 50, compared to 56 the previous week.
Noor Hisham said 31 hotspots were in Selangor, 14 in Sabah, four in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and one in Malacca. He added that 12 chikungunya cases were recorded last week in Penang , Selangor and Negri Sembilan , making the cumulative number to date 682 cases.
