‘Declare FedPoly Bida Rector’s seat vacant’
The Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu to declare the seat of the Rector of the Polytechnic vacant.
In a statement titled: “How do we claim improved system in Federal Poly Bida Amidst non-stop crises” signed by the Chairman, ASUP-BD, Abubakar Ndasabe, the union stated that the continuous desire of the Rector, Dr Abubakar Abdul-Dzukogi to stay on despite having retired runs contrary to the provision of 1999 Constitution, Section 169, 160 and 318 .
“However, Dr Dzukogi still wants to continue to stay in office as a Sole Administrator. This runs contrary to the provision of Polytechnic Act 2019 as amended. Having voluntarily retired from the service of the Polytechnic, Dzukogi’s insistent to stay, runs contrary to the provision of 1999 constitution Section 169, 160 and 318 of the constitution.
