Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development, on Friday, led the main organising committee and other officials on an inspection tour of sporting facilities at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta state.The festival is also scheduled to take place in Asaba from November 28 to December 10.

In a statement, the organisers said the tour is aimed at ascertaining the Delta state government’s preparedness to host the bi-annual games.Addressing journalists at the end of the inspection, the minister commended the condition of the facilities. “I wish to commend the Delta government for its commitment towards the completion of ongoing construction and renovation work to ensure a smooth sports competition for athletes coming from the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory,” he said.

According to him, about eleven corporate organisations will partner with the state government to ensure a successful event.This, he said, informed the recent approval of the sports industry policy and the establishment of the para-sports department in the ministry. The inspection tour was among the activities lined up for the joint technical meeting for the festival hosted by the Delta government ahead of the competition.
