On Tuesday, floods displaced thousands of residents from their homes in the Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, and Bulabulin areas of Maiduguri.more than 30 people have died and over 400,000 have been displaced due to the flood in the state capital.Speaking during an assessment visit to some of the affected locations in Maiduguri, the businessman said the amount was given to NEMA to work with the Borno state government.
“I just want to clarify, we have this flood committee. NEMA wrote us a letter, so we sat down and approved N1 billion to NEMA to work with the Borno state government,” Dangote said. “On top of that, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will also put in additional N500 million, so that’s N1.5 billion.”Also speaking, Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa, announced the donation of an unspecified number of trucks of relief materials to support the Borno state government.
