Buffalo Bills football player Damar Hamlin returned to Paycor Stadium on Sunday, the same stadium where he suffered a near fatal cardiac arrest earlier this year.
Hamlin took almost 15 minutes crouching on the field alone after the game between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, 10 months after Hamlin collapsed midgame. Though Hamlin's team lost Sunday's game with a score of 24-18, his time on the field after the game meant"everything" to him, he wrote on social media.“Tonight was everything for me.. y’all don’t know the half of it,” he wrote on X, the website previously known as Twitter. “Trust me.
Hamlin's injury on Jan. 2 came as a shock to the world of sports, which left him hospitalized in critical condition from cardiac arrest, a condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly. Amid his recovery, fans of both the Bills and the Bengals gathered outside of Hamlin's hospital in solidarity with the injured player.
Hamlin was later released from the hospital on Jan. 11, and he was reunited with his team a few days later.The football player did not play his first game with the Bills after his injury until August, when he helped his team win against the Indianapolis Colts with a score of 23-19. Hamlin had a total of three tackles throughout the game.
