An exemption was granted by the Petaling Land Office because funds were required for emergency repairs.
“For upgrades or repairs valued at RM20,000 and below per project , an assemblyman is allowed to submit a request for one project in one area per year,” said Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng.“If there is more than one project for the same area, we have to justify the need for it.Ng said the first project was for the upgrading of a walkway surrounding the park.
The second project was for repairs to the SS14 KRT cabin, which was damaged when a tree trunk fell on Aug 17.“We submitted an application for cabin repairs on Sept 12 and works were completed on Oct 28. These repairs also cost about RM20,000.” She said the same incident also damaged the roofing of an activity centre next to the cabin, but its repairs were undertaken by Subang Jaya City Council .
“I understand that the cost of repairs is being calculated and will be paid by MBSJ to the maintenance contractor,” said Ng of the final project that was completed on Dec 8.“In the mornings and evenings, there are people practising qigong, line dancing, yoga and playing sepak takraw. “On the first and third Sundays of the month, there is also ewaste collection and free physiotherapy sessions at the cabin,” said Tan.
