Cyclone Seth forecast to cross Queensland coast in coming days | cloe_read
A tropical cyclone about 630 kilometres east of Brisbane is forecast to cross the coast in coming days, potentially bringing heavy rainfall to much of the south-east.
“It’s expected to weaken into an ex-tropical cyclone low likely early on Monday, and then it turns more southwest and then west very slowly towards the coast during the week,” he said.“The main impacts are likely to be along the coastal areas. There is the potential that we could start to see some gale-force winds just offshore in the south-eastern waters tonight, but more likely on Monday and Tuesday.
On Sunday, sustained winds near the centre of the cyclone – which was moving south at 41 kilometres per hour – were 85 kilometres per hour, with gusts up to 120 kilometres per hour. “As always, tropical cyclones are unpredictable, and we’re monitoring the cyclones very closely,” he said.
