Some yet-to-be-identified assailants, suspected to be cultists, have shot dead a member of the Anambra State Vigilante Service attached to the Central Security, Obosi, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The source noted that the incident disrupted commercial activities in the community, including a planned protest against land-grabbing activities proposed by landlords in the area.
Both the traditional ruler of Obosi Kingdom, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, and the Palace Secretary, Chief Shedrack Okenwa, confirmed the incident. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police had commenced a manhunt for the suspects. “It was an unfortunate incident; no arrest has been made yet, but investigation is ongoing please,” Ikenga added.All rights reserved.
