A coalition of civil society organisations (CSO) says insufficient education for observers led to conflicting reports on the 2023 general election

Osasah said it appeared that some CSOs did not have any niche to observe during the elections which undermined the principle of observing polls in the country. “Insufficient observers education by the Civil Society Groups of their observers led to confusion, resulting in procedural error, poor reportage and lack of adherence to the observers code of conduct,” he said.“The challenges to the range of polling units further undermined the outcome of reports fueling fake news on social media platforms and raised concerns about the manipulation of public opinion.
