The Chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sharafadeen Alli, has called on all stakeholders to create a conducive environment for journalists to operate freely without fear of reprisals.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of All Progressives Congress , made this declaration in a message issued in commemoration of International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, a UN-recognised international day observed annually on November 2.
Alli said, 'As we commemorate the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, it is crucial for us to recognize the significant role that journalists play in society. 'It is disheartening to note that journalists around the world continue to face threats, harassment, and violence, which hinders their ability to carry out their work fearlessly.
