A crackdown on cattle rustling in Adamawa State has unearthed a secret slaughterhouse.
in the capital, Yola The feat was achieved by a special security outfit, Operation Farauta, an Adamawa government-backed outfit tasked with tackling crime in the state and which uncovered the hidden slaughterhouse The outfit uncovered the slaughterhouse where stolen cattle were being killed and sold to the public. Operation Farauta made the finding upon raiding the premises after a report from a herder whose cow was stolen and who traced the cow right up to the slaughterhouse.
At the house located in the Bachure area of Yola North Local Government Area, the slaughtered cow and a toilet converted for dumping animal waste were observed during a visit on Saturday. The cow owner, who identified himself simply as Mallam Gagare, explained to newsmen that after he followed the footsteps of his cow to the slaughterhouse, he alerted security agents to help him fight for his right.
