The Zamfara State Government has faulted criticisms of its use of tricycle ambulance to fight the deadly coronavirus.
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, Zailani Bappa, the government said the tricycles were “specially constructed”.While some commenters commended the state government for being creative, others argued that it was degrading to use tricycles as an ambulance.
“For the purpose of clarification, these ambulances are specially constructed to respond to the emergency situation our country Nigeria and indeed, the World happened to find itself especially with the challenge of COVID-19. “Hence, within its limited resources, the Government made an emergency supply of tricycles ambulances, one each to all the 147 Wards in the state. Indeed, we are at a time of epidemic which is akin to the time of war.”
