The World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, has said that the number of Coronavirus cases in Africa has risen to over 51,000 in the past 24 hours.According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed over 1,900 people on the continent, while more than 17, 000 patients have recovered.

“Over 51,000 confirmed #COVID19 cases on the African continent – with more than 17,000 associated recoveries & 1,900 deaths,” it said. The WHO African Region COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa is the highest in Africa with 7808 cases and 153 deaths, followed by Egypt with 7588 cases and 469 deaths, Morocco has 5382 cases and 182 deaths, while Algeria has 4997 cases and 476 deaths.

Meanwhile, Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria has recorded 3,145 cases and 103 deaths as of Wednesday night, according to the NCDC.
