Three people have died from the new Delta variant of COVID-19 in Akwa Ibom just as the state has recorded 156 new infections in two weeks.
Ekuwem said all COVID-19 monitoring mechanisms in the State have been reactivated to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 guidelines and protocols, saying the new Delta variant had pushed the number of positive cases from five to 156 in two weeks.“This increase, when considered in the light of the new Delta variant of the virus, which has now been isolated in Nigeria, calls for a renewal of our collective effort at preventing the spread of COVID-19 virus infection in our State.
