Adelani Adepegba, Abuja The Nigeria Immigration Service has stopped two Indian nationals from leaving the country over visa violations.
The culprits were intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, during the evacuation of 446 Indian nationals on Saturday.The Lagos Airport Comptroller of the NIS, Abdullahi Usman, in a briefing, said the two Indians entered Nigeria through the land border and failed to present their visa on arrival approval to the Immigration at the border.
A statement on Sunday by the NIS spokesman, Sunday James, read, “The Indian nationals, aged 32 and 29, will be prosecuted according to the Nigeria Immigration laws as a deterrence to others.” NIS Comptroller-General, Muhammad Babandede, warned migrants to desist from breaking the laws of countries of transit to avoid sanctions that may result in a travel ban or financial penalty.
