The Nasarawa State Government has sent about 788 almajiri children back to their states of origin as parts of plans to stop the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule, made the announcement on Sunday, adding that more would follow. The move comes as more almajiri kids test positive for COVID-19, sparking fears that the children placed in care of Islamic scholars and, who roam freely in search of food and alms, may cause community transmission of the virus.
