Kwara State government on Wednesday, called on the Federal government to expedite action on setting up a COVID-19 testing centre in the state.
A statement by the spokesman of the state COVID-19 technical committee, Rafiu Ajakaye in Ilorin, which disclosed that the government will take a stand on Wednesday on the reopening of worship centres in the state, also explained reasons for the recent spike in the infection rate of the virus. “So far, 75 percent of our active cases were imported. There is no record of community spread yet in Kwara,” the statement noted, just as it commended security agencies and asked them to do more by securing the borders and preventing the influx of people into the state.
“The government has, therefore, despatched a rapid response team to begin an aggressive contact tracing of the case in the affected community for another round of test.”
