The German Mission in Nigeria on Monday donated personal protective equipment worth €300,000 to security agents in the country as part of collective measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The equipment and consumables include hand sanitisers, disposable overalls, sanitising spray, N95 face masks, handheld digital infra-red temperature readers, and disposable hand gloves.

At an event held in Lagos, the German Consul General, Dr Stefan Traumann, handed over the items to representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Department of State Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.

Traumann said, “This donation underlines the great need for international cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and is another demonstration of Germany’s commitment to development cooperation with Nigeria, especially in these critical times. “The partnership between our two countries is greatly needed in the fight against COVID-19. This is why Germany is making this donation to Nigerian law enforcement and security agencies, who are also key frontline workers.”
