Delta State has recorded 532 confirmed cases of coronavirus as of June 23, a top aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has announced.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria , Mr Ifeajika said the pandemic had gulped a huge chunk of money from the government since the disease was recorded in the state.
He said many residents of the state have been refusing to adhere to safety protocols, aimed at checkmating further spread of the virus. Mr Ifeajika recalled that the Secretary to the State Government , Mr Chiedu Ebie, and the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, were among people who tested positive for the disease.
The spokesperson said most government meetings in the state had been virtual, in a bid to check the spread of the virus.
