Court sentences Edo Chief to prison for assault

The Magistrate, Aiyanyo Blessing sentenced Ode after she found him guilty of one count charge of assault filed against him.Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Sunday, told the court that the convict committed the crime on Feb 22, , 2018 at Iguotor community, in Egor magisterial district.

According the prosecutor, on the said date, Obamedo came with thugs to unlawfully assaulted the complainant with a stick and did cause him harm. The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provision of sections 355 of the Criminal Code Cap. 48 Vol. 11, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, now applicable in Edo.
