The Court of Appeal in Lagos, Nigeria, has overturned the life sentence of Femi Olaleye, who was convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2023. The court cited errors in the lower court's judgment and acquitted Olaleye on November 29th, 2024.

On 29 November, 2024 the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, discharged and acquitted Femi Olaleye , citing errors in the lower court’s judgement. Olaleye was convicted of defilement and sexual assault in 2023 in Lagos. On 24 October, 2023, he had received a life sentence for rape and sexual assault by penetration. The decision to set aside the trial court’s decision was taken by three judges — Jimi Bada, Abdu Dogo and Zainab Abubakar.
