A Makurdi High Court in Benue State, presided over by Justice Augustine Ityonyiman, on Tuesday fixed October 13 for a definite hearing of the libel suit filed by Governor Samuel Ortom against former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress , Adams Oshiomhole.
When the case came up, counsel to Oshiomhole and the APC, Titus Akuhwa, who held brief for Festus Jumbo, sought an adjournment.ADVERTISEMENT He told the court that the substantive counsel could not attend the day’s proceedings or send the file across because of bad weather.Counsel to the governor, Samuel Ehis Irabor, did not object to the application.Addressing reporters after the court proceedings, Irabor said he and his client did not opposed the adjournment the defendants applied for because they may raise the issue of lack of fair hearing in future, even though they sought adjournment on the grounds of bad weather.
He said his legal team took a long date as the court will soon go on vacation in early August and resume in September.
