Court disqualifies APC's Timipre Sylva from contesting Bayelsa guber election | TheCable

A federal high court in Abuja has disqualified Timipre Sylva, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress , from contesting the November 11 election in Bayelsa state.

The judge held that Sylva was not qualified to run in the forthcoming poll because if he wins and is sworn in, he would spend more than eight years in office as governor of the state. Demesuoyefa Kolomo, a member of the APC, had asked the court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission to delete Sylva’s name from the list of candidates contesting the election.
