Court declares Kaduna controversial religious bill unconstitutional

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria had dragged the state government to the court, challenging passage of the bill, which provides the state government will issue license to clerics before they will be able to perform some religious rites in the state.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, had in 2016 sent the religious bill, a rejig of 1984 decree to the State Assembly but was set aside for about three years before it was eventually passed a few hours to the end of the last assembly.
