The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of 16 internet fraudsters before Justice F.I.
The anti-graft agency, in a statement issued on Monday, said the fraudsters were convicted on June 27, 2023, each on a separate charge of impersonation.
All 16 defendants, according to EFCC, pleaded guilty to their respective charges and were each sentenced to one year in prison with an option of N150,000. The convicts, including Ukwuoma Mmasi Joseph, Godwin John Ifeanyi, Azubuike Chimaobi Kelvin, Chukwuma Peter, Mboji Henry Chima, Ngene Chukwuma Samuel, and Michael Ogbodo, among others, forfeited their phones to the federal government of Nigeria.
