Court admits alleged pickpocket to N50, 000 bail for stealing N25, 000 phone vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
Magistrate E. Kubeinje, granted bail to Sholanke, who allegedly stole an Infinity Note 2 phone from the pocket of Mr Jerry Okon in front of car wash bus- stop along Oworonahoki/Gbagada Express way, Lagos.The defendant had pleaded not guilty to counts of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, stole the phone at 6.30p.m on March 7. Ihiehie said that the defendant removed the phone from the complainant’s back pocket as he was rushing to board a bus along with other passengers.He said that the defendant who tried to cross to the other side of the road to hand the phone to his accomplices, was caught by a bus conductor .
Ihiehie submitted that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
