Corovirus: Imo Government releases 36 inmates
DAILY POST reports that the release was sequel to a letter written to the Comptroller of Prisons in Owerri, Imo State, by the State government, dated April 29, 2020.
He, however, expressed dismay on the level of injustice meted out to some Imo citizens, tracing the anomaly to some people’s inordinate ambition to incarcerate others by conniving with the law enforcement agents. He concluded that sooner than later, the committee on the Prerogative of Mercy led by the Acting Chief Judge of the State will pay a visit to the Correctional Centres to effect more releases of those awaiting trials.
