Coronavirus: South-Africa Government to relax five-week lockdown from May 1

South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has said a five-week nationwide coronavirus lockdown, would be slowly relaxed from May 1.“We have accordingly decided that beyond Thursday the 30th of April, we should begin a gradual and phased recovery.

“We will implement what we call a risk-adjusted strategy through which we take a deliberate and cautious approach to the easing of current lockdown restrictions,” he said. The lockdown began March 27, with residents only allowed to leave their homes for groceries, pharmaceuticals and medical appointments.South Africa has Africa’s highest number of coronavirus cases, with 3,953 infections and 75 deaths announced on Thursday.
