Coronavirus: Africa records 1,517 deaths as COVID-19 cases rise to 34,610

The UN health agency gave the update on its official Twitter account, @WHOAFRO, on Wednesday morning.“34,610 COVID-19 cases reported on the African continent – with 11,180 associated recoveries and 1,517 deaths recorded,” it said.

The WHO African Region COVID-19 dashboard showed that Egypt is now number one with 5,042 cases and 359 deaths, followed by South Africa with 4,996 cases and 93 deaths.in the last 24 hours, bringing to 1,532, the number of confirmed cases in the country as of Tuesday night.
