The Nation Newspaper CORAN supports Dangote refinery, criticises crude producers for skipping local sales
The Crude Oil Refineries Association of Nigeria has expressed strong support for Dangote Oil Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited amidst allegations that local crude producers, including international oil corporations , are hindering the refinery’s operations by refusing to guarantee and provide crude supply.
Oyarekhua emphasized that the issue is not limited to IOCs but involves all crude producers in Nigeria. Citing the Petroleum Industry Act , Oyarekhua mentioned Section 109, which mandates a Domestic Crude Supply Obligation to support local refineries. Earlier this week, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited , Devakumar Edwin accused IOCs of inflating local crude prices, making it prohibitive for Dangote Refinery to purchase locally.
He highlighted the refinery’s compliance with international standards and ECOWAS regulations, which has enabled it to export fuel to Europe and other regions.
