SERI ISKANDAR: Police in Perak Tengah have arrested five men at different locations after finding firearms at a welding workshop in Bota.
Perak Tengah OCPD Supt Barudin Wariso said the first raid was conducted on Monday at about 1pm at the workshop in Kampung Nasarudin on Jalan Tronoh, Bota near here.
He said the 41-year-old workshop owner and a 29-year-old man from Batu Caves in Selangor were arrested after two homemade air rifle barrels were found. “Further checks on a motorvan inside the workshop uncovered a black bag containing a pump gun, and two 12-bore shotgun bullets were recovered, ” he said.
Supt Barudin added that following the arrests, police raided a few places in Perak Tengah, Gemas in Negeri Sembilan, and Segamat in Johor between Aug 19 to 21, and arrested three more men suspected to be involved in firearms dealing. He said a 59-year-old government retiree was arrested in Parit, near here, while two self-employed men, one 33 years old and the other 36, were picked up respectively in Gemas and Segamat, respectively.“Those arrested have been remanded for several days to get information on where they got the firearms and bullets from, ” he added.
