Controversy has surrounded the reported membership of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in the ruling All Progressives Congress' campaign council for the governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states on November 11.
The inclusion of Wike, which was revealed in the documents signed and posted on the social media platform of the ruling party on Tuesday evening by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Arugungu, generated heated debate, especially in the camp of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
Wike had been named by the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party as a member of the party’s National Campaign Council for the same Bayelsa State Governorship election two weeks ago. But in the controversial document earlier released by the ruling APC, Wike featured prominently in the composition of the Bayelsa campaign council, which will be headed by Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.
The 123-member council also has Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru; Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume as co-chairmen.Kindly share this story: All rights reserved.
