Individuals spreading false information about the poll body thus destroying the integrity of the electoral process will be prosecuted by the Commission on Elections , it said on Monday, April 4.During the Laging Handa public briefing, Commissioner George Garcia said that he is convincing the Commission En Banc to create a task force against fake news.
Garcia said that they would want to go after fake news such as those concerning the so-called pre-shaded original ballots that got out of the National Printing Office . There are also videos according to him, claiming that the election is already over claiming that voter turnout was at 100 percent. In a DZBB interview, Garcia said that they will always seek the assistance of both the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police in going after people responsible for spreading false information about the poll body and the electoral process.
Officers and employees of Comelec, according to Garcia don’t even have time to rest working for the elections and all of a sudden it will just be tarnished by false information.
