The Commission on Elections said the conduct of the filing of the certificates of candidacy for the May 2022 polls was a success.“Overall we can say that the conduct of COC filing nationwide was successful,” Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said in am online press briefing Friday, Oct. 8.
The Comelec, meantime, reported that from Oct. 1 to 8, the number of aspirants who filed for president totaled 97, for vice president 29, and 176 for senator.As to the number of filers for local positions: 466 for member, House of Representatives; 165 for governor; 135 vice governor; 1,274 member, sangguniang panlalawigan; 2,909 mayor; 2,563 vice mayor; and 23,565 member, sangguniang panlungsod.
For vice president: senators Bong Go, Tito Sotto, Kiko Pangilinan, Buhay Partylist Rep. Lito Atienza and Doc Willie Ong.
