The Commission on Elections (Comelec) extended the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in the 3rd legislative district of Negros Oriental for the special elections in December.
The deadline was moved from November 8 to 11 “to give ample time for aspirants” to file their COC, according to Comelec Resolution 10958.
No one filed a single COC as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, said Comelec spokesman Atty. John Rex Laudiangco. Lopez initially ran for the same position under the Nacionalista Party in the 2022 elections, but lost to expelled Rep. Arnolfo Teves.
