Collapse: Experts, stakeholders task LASG on enforcement of building regulations vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
The stakeholders made the remarks, yesterday, during various presentations at a public hearing on the collapsed building at Ita-Faaji, Lagos Island, organised by Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, in Alausa, Ikeja.
Besides relevant government agencies, like Lagos State Building Control Agency, LABSCA, other institutes at the event include: Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Nigerian Institute of Architects, NIA, Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, NITP, Nigerian Institute of Building, NIOB, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, NIESV, Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, NIQS, and Nigerian Institute of Surveyors, NIS.
He also said there would be investigation into the quality of building materials by developers and prosecution of the developer. In his remarks, chairman of the occasion, Engineer Wasiu Olokunola who is chairman of the ad-hoc committee on Ita-Faaji building collapse, said the committee would look into the submissions and report of all previous committees on building collapse in the state and come up with a recommendation to the government to tackle the menace.
Also, General Manager LASEMA, Tiammiyu Adeshina said government has begun accommodation of displaced persons from collapsed and marked buildings at its resettlement centre, Igando, Alimosho area of the state.
