The Coalition MP whose seat would house the controversial Adani coal mine said the project was necessary to stop women in India from being forced to cook with cow dung in poorly ventilated huts.

"We're not very happy about Bob Brown bringing his people up here," Ms Landry told the ABC on Wednesday morning. "How many emissions are they going to be using driving from Hobart to Queensland?"The former Greens leader said the protest convoy of about 600 people would remind Australians their votes could affect the mine's future.
