Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Osun State chapter has advocated for more protection of children irrespective of their class or status.
In a statement jointly signed by the state chairperson, Motunrayo Ayegbayo and Secretary, Abisola Ariwodola respectively, the female journalists body rejoiced with the children tagging them them the future generations of the state.While wishing the children in the state a happy Children’s Day, NAWOJ reiterated that as parents, “We must always celebrate and promote the children welfare, rights and recognize their importance in society.
“We use this medium to call on parents, government and the society to recognize children as the future building blocks of society and promote their security, welfare and development. “The growth of the children’s cultural, educational, emotional, religious mindset is the duties of parents, and it’s a must not to fail in this regard.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate the government and stakeholders for the development of children oriented programs and for providing an enabling environment for them. “As a clarion call, we call on parents and guardians and other stakeholders to ensure protection of the children from assault, harassment, rape and other vices, and we implore security agents to also intensify the protection of the children in Osun state.”
