The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the release of N250 million as a matching grant for the procurement of Ready to Use Traphyat Food (RUTF) to fight cute child malnutrition in the state. State Nutrition Officer Saidu Umar disclosed this while speaking to newsmen shortly after the approval of the funds.
He explained that UNICEF has already approved the grant of N250 million for the procurement of RUTF.
According to him, 'UNICEF will facilitate and supervise the process of the procurement of RUTF and equally assist in its management and distribution at various Centres For Management of Accurate Malnutrition .' He said the RUTF will be used for about 10,000 suffering children suffering from acute malnutrition in the state.
