“Yesterday, we had 409 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, which increased the number of cases to 13,873.” Nigeria Covid19 Coronavirus PTF NCDC

Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of PTF, Boss Mustapha, who stated this at the daily media briefing in Abuja, noted that this year’s democracy day should be a reminder of the reality of the times, the disrupting effects of COVID-19, the realisation that Nigeria was faced with a new normal and the necessity to prepare to conquer the pandemic.

Mustapha noted that the PTF would hold a virtual conference with governors appointed by the National Economic Council to interface with it and appealed to governments at the sub-national level and security agencies to firmly enforce government’s approved safety guidelines and protocols. Meanwhile, the Federal Government expressed concern over the high Covid-19 fatality rate being witnessed in the country. Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, stated this in Abuja, noting that although the numbers were only marginally increasing compared to other countries and case fatality rate hovers around 3 per cent, the country was concerned and at high alert.
