CEBU CITY – As local authorities scramble to prevent the spread of the dreaded 2019 novel Coronavirus (nCoV), the Cebu provincial government is also on alert due to the reported H5N1 avian flu outbreak in Hunan, China.

Olango was identified as a critical area since it hosts migratory birds, while Bantayan is also being monitored since it has several poultry farms. If there are confirmed cases of avian influenza in the country, the government will automatically ban the entry of livestock coming from affected country.
