Ihunnia said that Catholics mark the ”Holy Thursday” as the beginning of Easter celebrations when the paschal mystery of Christ is commemorated by Christians all over the world. “Christ at the same time instituted the Ministerial Priesthood, where he gave his apostles the command to constantly re-enact his sacrifice on the cross in a bloodless way.
The cleric said that Holy Thursday masses were to be celebrated in local churches in the evenings, since it recalls the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot, after the last supper. “He fulfills his role as the Christian victim of the Passover for all to be saved by his final sacrifice as many Christians today will say,” he said.
“This event is celebrated at every Mass as part of the Liturgy of the Eucharist, but it is specially commemorated on Holy Thursday.
