Carlos Garfia Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev to clinch the 2024 French Open men’s singles title.…
The 21-year-old Spaniard claimed his first Coupe des Mousquetaires after dispatching off Zverev at the Court Philippe Chatrier on Sunday in a five-set sensational thriller 6-3, 4-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.It was the first time since 2004 that the men’s final at the French Open did not include one of the “big three” — Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, or Roger Federer. The victory also earned Alcaraz his third Grand Slam title — US Open 2022, Wimbledon 2023, and now the French Open.
The Spaniard has supplanted Andre Agassi as the youngest man to make a Slam final on all three surfaces in the professional era — since 1968. If Alcaraz wins the Australian Open in 2025 or 2026, he will break Don Budge’s record as the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam.Click on the link below to join TheCable Channel on WhatsApp for your Breaking News, Business Analysis, Politics, Fact Check, Sports and Entertainment News!Mercy Eke’s ‘N100m trapped’ in Heritage Bank, Paul Okoye vs Saida Boj… top stories of last week
