POLICE said a man was killed and two others were injured when an industrial steam machine in a canning factory in Zamboanga City exploded.
Police Major Chester Natividad, Police Station 9 chief, said the explosion occurred around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Southwest Asia Canning Corporation in Zone 1 in the village of Talisayan, west of Zamboanga City. Natividad identified the fatality as Zacarias Rico, 49, an assistant operator of the industrial steam machine, commonly known as boiler.
Injured were Francisco Dumagal, 39, boiler operator, and Mark Anthony Villaflores, 28, safety officer.Damage was estimated at P1.5 million.
