THE number of attacks on train staff has soared in the past five years.

New figures issued to the Scottish Liberal Democrats under a Freedom of Information request reveal British Transport Police in Scotland attended 678 cases of train passengers behaving violently towards employees. Over the same five year period police were called to a further 760 cases of violent behaviour towards staff in railway stations.
