The Confederation of African Football announced the date following the completion of the qualifying rounds across the continent.

Rivers United defeated Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso 2-0 on Sunday in the second leg of the second preliminary round of the competition at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium to secure qualification to the group stages. The former Nigeria Premier Football League champions reached the quarter-final of last season’s CAF Confederation Cup where Young Africans of Tanzania eliminated them.
