The businessman, who was brought before Magistrate Japhet Basani of Chief Magistrate Court II sitting in Yola on Monday, was sent to a Correctional Centre for ridiculing Fintiri on social media.
A businessman, Ali Yakubu, has been remanded in prison for allegedly describing the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, as a ‘father of all thieves.’Daily Post reports that Yakubu was charged with publishing insulting and denigrating statements in Hausa and Fulfulde against Fintiri on the 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 20th and 29th of July 2021 respectively on his Facebook page.
A statement of complaint by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Afraimu Jingi said the action of the defendant generated tension in the State.
