The bill to increase the minimum wage to N30,000 has already passed third reading in the National Assembly.

President Buhari had on January 9, 2019, inaugurated the advisory committee with the core mandate of finding means of generating funds to fund the new minimum wage. Receiving report of the Bismarck Rewane led committee, President Buhari thanked them for submitting the report before the bill was passed into law.ALSO READ:There has been tension that implementation of the new minimum wage may cause another crisis between the executive and the organized labour following the discovery that the budgetary provision of about N150 billion was grossly inadequate.

It was gathered that the Federal Government requires between N250 billion to N300 billion annually to settle the new salary if signed into law.
