The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari , has praised the late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s patriotism.
Buhari, who admitted on Tuesday that he had political differences with the late leader, still acknowledged his patriotism, saying that Yar’Adua had a passion for the masses.
“As we remember President Yar’Adua today, let us emulate his patience and gentle nature so that we don’t introduce toxicity into our politics where opponents perceive each other as enemies. In separate statements, the statesmen described Yar’Adua as a detrabalised patriot who put the nation’s interest above everything else.to recall times they spent together in office.
“In many ways he stood out. He had an accommodating spirit and enormous goodwill that secreted a web around our national fault lines to strengthen the bond; thus, leaving for his successors the task of reinforcing the band.”
